The 2016 Friends of T.J. Outing surpassed the expectations projected yet again! This event has become an annual gathering of over 425 truly remarkable people! It warms our hearts to hear friends and family comment on how it has become an event they wouldn’t miss. We also hear inspiring comments from many who have heard about the event and want to get involved. So many of you have become partners with us in a very worthwhile project to make sarcoma a universally survivable disease and hopefully to aid in improving cancer research for all. We are grateful to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for having the vision to embrace the need for sarcoma research.
The Outing took place on June 20, 2016 at the Huntington Country Club, the Huntington Crescent Club and the tennis courts at the Lloyd Neck Bath Club, all places where T.J. enjoyed playing golf and tennis with many of you.
Maybe this outing is a big success because most of you feel his loss and can identify first hand the impact a death of someone so young can have on a community. We all feel the frustration when we witness a lack of adequate treatments available due to a lack of research. Perhaps you want to be a part of a solution to a problem that T.J. always said shouldn’t happen to anyone. The bottom line is that you are one of the most incredibly generous and supportive groups of people in the world to us!
This is a “huge” thank you to our board members, volunteers, sponsors, auction donors and participants. The Foundation is extremely grateful to Lucky To Live Here Realty for being the event sponsor. Although most of the work for the event takes place in small groups, we need an army of volunteers at all of the different venues during the day and again at the evening reception. The amount of people willing to be involved at this event was phenomenal.
We can’t wait to see you next year on Monday, June 19th, 2017!
See our 2016 sponsors.
Matthew Arcati presented The Friends of T.J. Foundation to Capstone, Inc. as a possible recipient for Capstone’s annual charity event. With much excitement the Foundation was chosen to be the sole recipient at the Capstone Charity Night for 2015!
Cups for A Cause is a beer pong and flip cup tournament with high stakes!
The event was generously hosted by Capstone at the fun venue of Slate, with food, drinks and prizes. The highlights of the night were touching speeches by Matt Arcati and Paul Britton, the CEO of Capstone. It was emotional witnessing a crowd of new supporters, many of whom never met T.J., so touched listening to T.J.’s story and the work of the Foundation. The event raised $140,000. Thank you CAPSTONE!!!!
Wow! The 2015 Outing in June was a tremendous success on so many levels!
Golf dominated the day with 250 golfers at Huntington Country Club and Huntington Crescent Club. There was also a strong showing of tennis players that filled the courts at the Lloyd Neck Bath Club and an equally enthusiastic group used Ray’s Room for a fun afternoon of bridge. The volunteers and board members were instrumental in making all of the different activities happen so seamlessly in so many different locations.
Sponsorships and auction items were the cornerstone of the success. We were extraordinarily fortunate and grateful to have “Lucky to Live Here Realty” as this years event sponsor. The generosity of all the sponsors was incredible and if that is a measure of growth and belief in this project, together we are on the right track!
More importantly, everyone involved with the Foundation is so thankful to the community and beyond for setting one Monday in June aside to remember T.J., honor his legacy and support research. The love in the air that day was quite emotional. We know T.J. would be so pleased that everyone is joining together in his name to tackle the lack of research so commonly found in rare cancers.
Thanks to our friend and resident photographer, Bob Kopprasch, the first photo drone flew over Huntington Country Club. The enormous view of the Outing was majestic!
What an exceptional night! A big thank you to the band, Run for Cover, and everyone turning out at Hill Country in NYC on March 4th.
We ended up with over 150 attendees in our inaugural event and raised money and awareness for the Rhabdomyosarcoma cause. It was a special honor to be joined by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory team partnering with us on this important research. A HUGE thank you to all involved. Looking forward to an even bigger and better NYC Winter Event 2016!
A spectacular day! Wonderful participation, beautiful weather and a great venue all contributed to a very successful outing. A tremendous thank you to our event sponsor, Signature Premier Properties, as well as all of the families and businesses who sponsored the event. Numbers in terms of attendance and donations exceeded the 2013 Outing.
Thank you to everyone who helped in
so many ways. Some volunteered for registration, others worked on live or silent auction items and a very generous friend took photos all day long. Great friends jumped in at the last minute to round out the exact numbers needed for tennis and bridge. They made the event planning seem effortless.
We hope everyone has been thanked either personally, by email, by letter or by phone.
Every single person played an important role in delivering our message and for the successful outcome of funds raised for research. More importantly, everyone is helping the Foundation fulfill T.J.’s search for better treatments, a longer life for those diagnosed and maybe a cure!
